Go outside

I’m sitting on my back patio right now, it’s 10:15pm. Smoking a Monte Cristo Cuban cigar and listening to the Big Easy sound track. It has to be the most awesome summer night ever. 23 degrees C, almost no mosquitoes. Sweet.

I live in a dense suburban development. So I can pretty much tell who is up and who has turned in for the night. The number of people out in their back yards tonight… As far as I can tell… One. Me. Brutal. Every other house has gone dark.

People living at my latitude should not disrespect summer. It lasts for three months if we’re lucky. We need to celebrate summer.

I work in a climate controlled environment and get almost no time off. I get time off, but it is almost entirely consumed with taking care of sick kids. The point is, I don’t get much time to myself to enjoy the summer months by doing absolutely nothing while sitting outside. I cherish these times. I wish other people would do the same.
